Provost & Vice-President Academic MacEwan University has been an institution of transformation and has continuously evolved and adapted to meet the changing needs of its students and the communities it serves. Today, MacEwan offers student-focused instruction and inspires students through a powerful combination of academic excellence and personal learning opportunities in a creative, collaborative, and supportive learning environment. The University's comprehensive credential and program offerings engage 19,101 full- and part-time students in more than 65 programs in the liberal arts, business/commerce, communications, education, engineering, health and human services, performing and visual arts, physical education and science and across nine baccalaureate degrees, two applied degrees, and many diploma, university transfer, and certificate programs, all built on the academic foundation of undergraduate education. As the hub of creative, scholarly, and cultural activity in downtown Edmonton, the University submitted a Campus Master Plan to the Board of Governors in June 2018 that will create a road map for future development over the next 25 years. The university has adopted values of curiosity, change and optimism as part of its new Integrated Strategic Plan Framework. The Framework sets out four key strategic directions for the university: be a national leader in the implementation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action; strengthen an extraordinary urban and metropolitan undergraduate student experience with an emphasis on student and alumni success; develop a capacity and reputation as an inclusive community university; and build on and promote a distinctive MacEwan curriculum, to provide greater flexibility and opportunities for life-long learning. The Provost & Vice-President Academic is the senior academic leader of MacEwan University. Reporting to the President, and working collegially with the University's Vice-Presidents, Deans and leaders, the Provost & Vice-President Academic plays a strategic leadership role ensuring that MacEwan's academic and student services programs and the University's strategies, plans, and resources are aligned and supportive of student-focused undergraduate and continuing education and the University's mission to teach, to learn, and to serve. The Provost & Vice-President Academic is responsible, within a shared governance framework, for academic program development and delivery, research and scholarly activity, and academic policies. As the leader of the Academic Affairs function, the Provost also oversees a number of complementary areas that support learner success and faculty engagement such as the Library, the University's institutional and educational technology mandate, distributed education, strategic enrolment planning, institutional research requirements, and initiatives for the advancement of faculty excellence. The ideal candidate will possess a doctoral or relevant terminal degree, a distinctive record of academic achievement and a demonstrated commitment to teaching, learning, scholarship, service, and student success and a track record of engaging with students and student leaders. The ideal candidate is a collegial and transformative leader, values openness and accountability, is accessible and engaging, and is committed to building trust, transparency, and collegiality within the University. The next Provost will have the ability to envision creative and innovative possibilities for academic programs, a demonstrated understanding of and appreciation for the various programs offered at MacEwan, and experience in or an appreciation for working within a primary undergraduate University. The next Provost will communicate a compelling vision and inspire others inside and outside the University, show a clear commitment to the values of MacEwan, and enable a culture of curiosity, change, and optimism at the University. The next Provost has the consulting, listening, planning, persuading, explaining, and implementing skills that will enable positive organizational change and to effectively oversee a broad range of academic, operational, and fiscal functions in a complex organization. Experience and knowledge of working in a complex, bicameral governance structure, a unionized environment, and of the current context and realities of the post-secondary sector in Alberta and Canada is considered an asset.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
