Dean, Libraries MacEwan University is a public, board-governed Baccalaureate and Applied Studies Institution within Alberta's post-secondary system and has been an institution in transition since its inception as Grant MacEwan Community College over forty-five years ago. From a two-year community college with no mandate for university-level programming, to the province's largest university transfer institution, and then to a degree-granting institution, the university has continuously evolved and adapted to meet the changing needs of its students and of the communities it serves. MacEwan serves a diversity of learners in the following major areas of study: liberal arts, business/commerce, communications, engineering, health and human services, performing and visual arts, physical education and science. The university's innovative approaches to program delivery are designed to maximize graduates' opportunities to advance their careers and further their educations. Programs and courses at MacEwan are offered through several faculties and schools: Faculty of Arts and Science, Faculty of Fine Arts and Communications, Faculty of Health and Community Studies, Faculty of Nursing, School of Business and School of Continuing Education. The MacEwan University Library comprises the John L. Haar Library and the Alberta College Campus Library with a total budget of $7.5 million, one third of which is for collections. The library employs over 40 full-time employees: 15 faculty librarians, 25 staff, four management positions and an Associate Dean. Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President Academic and serving as a collaborative member of the Provost's Team, the Dean, Libraries is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the Library and for the effective use of its resources. Ideal candidates are exceptional organizational leaders who have demonstrated an ability to think creatively, build organizational capacity and create roadmaps for innovation and connectivity, all within the context of the post-secondary education system. They are outstanding communicators who can advance relationships with stakeholders, funders, affiliate organizations and government, as well as students, library staff, faculty members and university administration. Over their career, they have transformed the interface between an organization and its key constituents in a user-centric, technology-driven manner. Preference will be shown to candidates who possess a Master's degree in library sciences, in addition to extensive practical administrative experience coupled with knowledge of current and emerging technology and evolutions in academic library services and practices.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
