Additive Manufacturing Research and Development Engineer - ERC

ERC, Inc. at the Air Force Research Laboratory at Edwards AFB, California is looking for a M.S. or PhD level Additive Manufacturing Research and Development Engineer at AFRL (Edwards AFB).

The AFRL Rocket Lab is at the forefront of rocket propulsion technology, cutting-edge science, and innovative engineering.? Research efforts have extended to encompass the use of advanced manufacturing technologies to further enhance our capabilities. ERC, Inc wishes to recruit an Engineer with Additive Manufacturing (AM) experience to join our R&D team to elevate novel engineering solutions.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in new technology and material development with AM applications including conceptual design, performance calculations, verification, and quality assurance protocols, which will be essential for transitioning new technology to the warfighter.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively on multiple technical projects requiring interdisciplinary expertise (energetic materials, electrical engineering, computer science, product/manufacturing engineering, qualification test, etc.)

  • Provide technical support leadership on critical programs and failure mode analysis and deliver solutions.

  • Identify and define engineering and operator training requirements to support new applications.

  • Consider safety to be the most important responsibility ? Ensure all relevant procedures, criticality assessments and correct operations are facilitated at all times.

  • Continue professional development by formal training, learning ?on the job,? and maintaining subject matter expertise.

Desired Qualifications/Skills/Experience

Additive manufacturing design, topology optimization, CAD/FEA, and programming experience (JAVA/C/Python); mechatronics, robotics or similar discipline.

Required Qualifications/Skills/Experience

  • 3D CAD modeling experience

  • Knowledge of relevant materials and additive manufacturing techniques: DMSL, SLA, SLS, FDM, etc.

  • Problem solving abilities ? structured, logical approach to investigate issues and problems in an effective cross-functional manner

  • First-hand engineering design experience, numerical calculations, tolerance studies, etc.

  • Communications skills (written & oral)

  • Organized, multi-tasker, flexible, results orientated

  • MS or PhD in engineering (mechatronics, robotics or similar discipline acceptable)

  • Must be able to pass a background check

  • Must be a US Citizen

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
