Your Impact:
The successful applicant will develop and apply numerical methods for collisional radiative modeling with a focus on decreasing the numerical cost of these simulations. The new hire may also be required to work within the existing scientific framework written in C+
and deployed on Linux and HPC systems. While experience with specific methods is helpful, the diverse systems to be studied/analyzed will require strategic use of various methods; a firm grasp of the underlying mathematics, and flexibility to learn and strategically apply new methods, will be critical to success. The multidisciplinary nature and goals of the project also place a strong emphasis on communicating with research scientists and management of diverse technical levels and backgrounds. The successful applicant is expected to publish results in peer-reviewed journals, present research at external conferences, present research at internal meetings, and work closely with in-house experimentalists, engineers, and computational scientists. Here's What You'll Need:
PhD in Physics, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science or related field Demonstrated programming skills in C+
(or Fortran) and Python (or Matlab). Knowledge of physical systems such as plasmas, in-space propulsion, or similar Extensive experience with numerical methods for ODEs and PDEs US Citizenship with ability to obtain a Security Clearance Experience with both Linux and high-performance computing infrastructure is desired
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
Other SciencesEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
